CROWN POINT (5-06-2019) It took only one run in the top of the first inning and good pitching. In the end, the Lake Central Indians defeated the Crown Point Bulldogs for the second time this season.

A 1-0 win for the Indians ended the Bulldogs' 14-game winning streak.

In the top of the first, Lake Central junior Alexus Reese doubled-in fellow junior Alexis Johnson.

Crown Point had a golden opportunity to tie the game in the bottom of the first, but senior Caitlyn Phillips was called out at the plate, trying to score on sophomore Anna Holloway’s triple to right field. Then Holloway wound up stranded on third base as the inning came to an end when Mallory McMahon popped up to the catcher for the third out.

The Indians retired the Bulldogs in order in four of the seven innings, as Brinkley Kita recorded 8 strikeouts for the Bulldogs.

Of the five Crown Point hits, three went for extra bases with Crown Point threatening in the 3rd, 4th and 6th inning where they left a base runner. Senior Jenna Towle picked-up the win for Lake Central. Combined between Towle and sophomore Peyton Pepkowski, who moved from center field to the mound to pick-up a two-inning save, did not walk a single Crown Point hitter.

On April 3, the Indians defeated the Bulldogs 6-2 at Lake Central High School.
