CHESTERTON (01-17-2019) The determination for the Crown Point Lady Bulldogs to claim the Duneland Athletic Conference (DAC) Title outright marked the goal from opening tip-off in their final conference game of the year.

On Thursday, Jan. 17, they went on the road to meet the Chesterton Lady Trojans and would not be denied from the start.

The Lady Bulldogs went on to cruise to a 56-22 win in which Chesterton held its senior night, part of their home regular season finale.

The victory improves Crown Point’s perfect record to 22-0 overall, 7-0 in DAC; while Chesterton drops to 11-10 overall, 2-5 in the DAC.

With this the final conference game of the season, the win secures a solo DAC title, as second place Michigan City entered with only one DAC loss.

In all, nine players contributed in scoring for the Lady Bulldogs, led by sophomore guard Alyna Santiago’s 15 points. Freshman guard Jessica Carrothers had 14 points, 12 of which game at halftime. Junior guard/forward Abby Stoddard went two of three from beyond the arc, helping her get to 10 points.

Crown Point played strong defensively, forcing turnovers and it showed. They held Chesterton to only nine points in the first half, on only two field goals.

For the Lady Trojans, junior guard Ashley Craycraft led with six points, while sophomore guard Nalani Malackowski had five points.

LADY DOG NOTES:
With the Lady Bulldogs ending their DAC portion of the regular season, they have outscored their seven conference opponents by an average margin of 60-34.

Crown Point (22-0) learned they will play Class 4A Sectional 1 host school Lowell when the Indiana High School Athletic Association opens its 44th annual girls state tournament next week. The Lady Bulldogs will play the Lady Red Devils (8-11) in the Class 4A, Sectional 1 quarterfinal early game at Lowell High School on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. USA-365.com/Indiana-Sports.com will begin live Internet radio coverage with the Lady Bulldogs Pregame Show at 5:15 p.m, CST.
