CROWN POINT (5-08-2018) A day after a tough loss to the Kankakee Valley Kougars, in which they gave-up seven runs over the last two innings, the Crown Point Bulldogs needed to regroup.

Behind freshman right-handed starting pitcher Madi Elish, they did.

The Bulldogs welcomed in the LaPorte Slicers and shutout their Duneland Athletic Conference opponent 5-0.

Elish went the distance with complete command, striking out 10 and walking only two.

Crown Point scored four runs combined in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings.

The last two runs came in the fifth when junior Caitlyn Phillips had two RBIís on a triple to right field. She tried to stretch the triple into an inside-the-park home run, only to be thrown out at home plate.

Both LaPorte and Crown Point dedicated this game to breast cancer awareness. The Bulldogs wore a pink jersey top while the Slicers had black tops with a touch of pink.

Our next Internet radio softball broadcast on USA-365.com will be Tuesday, May 15 when the Bulldogs host the Merrillville Pirates. The pregame show starts at 4:15 p.m. CDT with the first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CDT.
