CROWN POINT (5-20-2016) With the DAC portion of the regular season behind the Crown Point Bulldogs, they continued their tune-up for the sectional tournament with a tough opponent from across the state line.

From Chicago’s southwest, the Marist RedHawks paid a visit, having won four Illinois High School Association titles, going back to 2011, including the last two years.

Senior starting pitcher Miranda Elish’s complete game no-hitter with a four-run third inning proved enough in the Bulldogs' 4-0 win.

In the third, Marie O’Malley provided the big hit. The senior first baseman connected for a two-run double to right that scored a pair. She had two hits in the game as the top six in the Bulldogs' line-up got on base at least once.

Elish took a perfect game into the sixth, but lost it when Vanessa Villasenor led off the top of the sixth for Marist, as the senior designated player reached base with on an error. That marked the lone base runner for the RedHawks in the game.
