st. ST. JOHN (5-01-2018) After winning their first 10 games of the season, the Lake Central Indians did not forget April 19.

That day, they met the Crown Point Bulldogs and took their first loss of the season, 13-4 at Crown Point High School.

This time, with the setting at Lake Central High School, the tables turned as the Indiansí bats put together a seven-run display in the bottom of the fifth, sending-up 10 hitters to the plate, all part of a 9-1 win for the home team.

This marks only the second loss for the Bulldogs and their first Duneland Athletic Conference defeat.

The crushing blast for Lake Central came off the bat of senior Rylee Platusic with the bases loaded and two outs. With Bulldogs pitcher Madi Elish in relief of fellow freshman Madi Young, Platusic connected and drove the ball that cleared the center field fence for a grand slam.

As a result, that became all the runs that senior Lake Central pitcher Alexa Pinarski received in her complete-game victory.

The Bulldogs lone run came on an RBI single by sophomore Zoie Rettig in the top of the second, scoring junior Maggie Ballentine from third.

Ballentine got on base with a double.

Our next Internet radio softball broadcast on will be Friday, May 4 (re-scheduled from Thursday, May 3) when the Bulldogs host the Penn Kingsmen. The pregame show is at 4:45 p.m. CDT and first pitch scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CDT.
