CROWN POINT (5-02-2017) For the second time this season, the Crown Point Bulldogs shutout their rivals in the Lake Central Indians. But unlike the early April meeting in St. John, this time would not prove easy, in a 1-0 victory to stay perfect in the DAC for the 2017 season.

The lone run for the Bulldogs came in the fourth inning with sophomore Mallory McMahon stealing home with two outs, in an attempted double steal as fellow sophomore Gracie Frazier was caught out at second. McMahon reached base to start the inning on an error by Indians senior third baseman Maddie Blythe.

Outside of the fourth, the Bulldogs left at least one base runner stranded in every inning. They left seven on base as opposed to three for Lake Central.

Senior Alexis Holloway dominated the Indians, pitching her second complete game against them in less than a month with 16 strikeouts.

In the top of the seventh, Jenna Towle, the Indians sophomore designated player, hit a single to left with one out. With the tying run on base, the next two hitters would strike out to end the game in Blythe and first baseman Alex Hickey.

The win marked the sixth shutout victory for the Bulldogs. Crown Point improves to 15-1 on the season and 10-0 in the Duneland Athletic Conference, while Lake Central falls to 16-5 overall and 7-3 in the DAC.
