CROWN POINT (5-21-2018) For Crown Point Bulldogs freshman starting pitcher Madi Elish, she proved dominant. The right hander only allowed two base runners, while striking out the first five of six batters she faced.

The home team bats provided plenty of run support early and often as the Bulldogs opened-up the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A, Sectional 1 tournament with a 10-0 win over the Morton Governors.

The game was called due to the mercy rule in the bottom of the fifth after Crown Point got to the 10-run mark.

The Bulldogs tallied RBI hits from juniors Micayla Greco and Brooke Manhatton in the bottom of the first inning.
Greco had a two-run double while Manhatton tripled-in a run.

Sophomore Faith Bergner had an RBI bunt single in the bottom of the fourth, while senior Madison Pizer connected for a two-run double three batters later.

But in the bottom of the fifth, the Bulldogs got walks from Greco and Manhatton to lead off the inning. Sophomore Katie Neal followed with a single. Junior Yasmine Porter then tripled to drive-in three runs. That set the stage for Bergner, who singled-in Porter with the mercy rule "winning" run.

Of the nine hitters for Crown Point, eight reached safely at least once.
