CROWN POINT (5-15-2018) As was the case when these two teams met April 18 at Merrillville High School, the Crown Point Bulldogs needed six innings to defeat the Merrillville Pirates by a 10-0 final.

Called because of the mercy rule after the Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth, freshman Delaney Adams drove-in fellow freshman Madi Adams with the RBI single that capped-off victory for the home team.

While two freshmen contributed on the final play of the game, this marked Senior Day as the Bulldogs celebrated four of their own, before the final home regular season tune-up.

While the Pirates could not retire the Bulldogs in order once, Merrillville went through a stretch in which they had nine-straight shutdown by Crown Point freshman starting pitcher Madi Young. The right-hander struck out the side in the second and third innings respectively.

For the Bulldogs, the next time they take to their home diamond will come in the opener of the Class 4A, Sectional 1 tournament against the Morton Governors on Monday, May 21 in a 5 p.m. CDT game that will be broadcasting live.

Our next Internet radio softball broadcast on will be Wednesday, May 16 when the Bulldogs travel for the regular season finale against the Lowell Red Devils. The pregame show is at 4:15 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CDT.
