MERRILLVILLE (5-16-2017) With the wind blowing out to left at 20 mph, Crown Point Bulldogs junior clean-up hitter Hannah Grady took the gust to her own advantage. She drove-in half of her teamís runs with two home runs to left field.

The Bulldogs for the second time this season defeated the Merrillville Pirates 10-0, called again by the mercy rule after five-innings.

It also marked the second time the Bulldogs picked-up a win this season over Merrillville with the same exact final score. They defeated the Pirates at home on April 19, also called because of the mercy rule.

Grady connected on a two-run blast in the second, part of a six-run inning that had 11 Bulldogs come to bat.

The next inning, she connected on a three-run shot, the lone runs for Crown Point in the third.

In addition to Grady, freshman Avery Skura and sophomore Brooke Manhattan also scored twice for the Bulldogs.

In the abbreviated win, senior starting pitcher Stephanie Renner coasted for the Bulldogs. The right-hander retired the first 12 Pirates she faced, until Merrillville senior Jennifer Villanueva led off the fifth with a walk.

Renner then stuck out the next three hitters for the win, without giving-up a single hit in the game.

The Bulldogs batting line-up did not record a single strike out against Merrillville senior starter Mi-Chae Smith and Villanueva in relief. The Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 24-1 on the season (14-0 in the Duneland Athletic Conference), while the Pirates fell to 6-18 overall (3-11 in the DAC).
