CROWN POINT (5-24-2018) The path for the Crown Point Bulldogs advancing to the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Class 4A, Sectional 1 championship looked almost easy, thanks to a quick start.

In the semifinal against the East Chicago Central Cardinals, the Bulldogs sent 11 to the plate, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first.

In the end, Crown Point picked-up its second mercy rule win in the tournament with a 10-0 victory, in which the Bulldogs also defeated Morton three days earlier by the exact score.

The Bulldogs took advantage of four walks in the bottom of the first. Seniors Hannah Grady and Madison Pizer picked-up RBIs, drawing bases-loaded walks.

Freshman Madi Adams delivered a two-run double, a couple batters later.

Freshman right-handed starting pitcher Madi Young struck out the side in the top of the fifth to secure the victory.

The Bulldogs will meet the Lake Central Indians for the sectional championship.

Lake Central defeated the Kankakee Valley Kougars 3-2 in eight innings, as the two teams met in the other semifinal match-up following the Bulldogs' win over the Cardinals.

The Bulldogs defeated the Indians 13-4 at Crown Point High School on April 19, only to lose 9-1 to their Duneland Athletic Conference rivals at Lake Central High School on May 1.

Our next Internet radio softball broadcast on USA-365.com will be Friday, May 25 when the Bulldogs play the Lake Central Indians in the IHSAA Class 4A, Sectional 1 Championship at Crown Point High School. The pregame show is at 5:45 p.m. CDT; first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. CDT.
