CROWN POINT (11-10-2017) The last few years have proven positive for the Crown Point Bulldogs boys’ basketball team. They have finished with winning marks in four straight seasons with sectional titles in 2014 and 2015.

The quest to returning to sectional glory and beyond, tipped-off for the Bulldogs on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at home against Bowman Academy.

But before tipping-off, the Bulldogs met the media and took photos on Friday, Nov. 10 at Crown Point High School.

Motivated by last year’s sectional title lost at Michigan City High School to the Merrillville Pirates, this team is eager to start the season.

“I want to be one of those guys people can look up to,” junior guard/forward Sam Snodgrass said.

Snodgrass makes-up 13 juniors on the roster. He spent time this summer playing AAU basketball for the Indy Heat (Red) team.

“I started off slow, I was nervous, but towards the end of the last month, I just played. I had a great summer,” Snodgrass said.

A big part of Crown Point’s success of late had to do with several seniors who graduated last year, including Sasha Stefanovic, who departed as the Bulldogs leading scorer with 1,385 points, and will be wearing jersey number 55 with the Purdue Boilermakers this college basketball season..

Only two seniors make-up the Bulldogs roster heading into the 2017-18 season in Jake McCallister and Jake Bennett.

“I just play hard and show these guys that I will get stuff done, hopefully they will follow,” McCallister said, who still has memories of how his team’s season ended at Michigan City. “It hurt us, but every practice means something, every game means something, the little things are important.”

The Bulldogs posted a 22-4 record last year. Over the past three seasons, since 2014-15, they have averaged 20 wins and seven losses.

“Anytime you start a new season there is optimism, we are excited,” said Bulldogs Head Coach Clint Swan, who begins his 12th season with the Crown Point program.
