CROWN POINT (02-01-2018) A three-game winning streak had not become a reality for the Crown Point Bulldogs until after their game with the Portage Indians on February 1.

With wins over LaPorte and South Bend Washington, the Bulldogs looked to extend their winning ways and did with a 64-54 win over the Indians.

After leading 31-29 at halftime, the Bulldogs hit 11 of 15 of their shots in the second half, good for 73.3 percent as they outscored the Indians 33-25 in the back 16 minutes.

Crown Point got the production of junior guard/forward Elias Gerodemos, who had 21 points on a perfect 10 of 10 shooting. Fellow junior guard/forward Sam Snodgrass had 18 points, going seven of nine from the free throw line.

In a losing effort, Portage had a strong showing from senior guard/forward James Havrilla, who chipped in 17 points. Senior forward Greg Milledge had 16 points, connecting on the lone six free throws for the Indians; while junior guard Maurion Martin had 11 points.

For Portage, this marks the fourth game within the DAC, in which the Indians have not won a game. Besides Crown Point, they have lost to Valparaiso, Merrillville, and Michigan City.

Crown Point improves their overall mark to 8-9, 2-3 in the Duneland Athletic Conference, while Portage fell to 8-10, 0-4 in the DAC.

DOG NOTES: With the Bulldogs having now won three straight for the first time this season, they have outscored their opponents; LaPorte, South Bend Washington and Portage 61-51.

This game for Crown Point continued a three-game home stand stand over 10 days. It started with South Bend Washington on January 27, in which the Bulldogs got five-days off leading-up to the game against Portage. They now have another five days off until hosting Andrean on February 6.
