CROWN POINT (01-27-2018) The feat for the Crown Point Bulldogs to pick-up their second home win of the season did not come easy. On Saturday, January 27, they welcomed the South Bend Washington Panthers out of the Northern Indiana Conference.

The two teams fought hard, especially in the second half. But in the end, the Bulldogs pulled away for a 62-58 victory.

The Bulldogs led 16-11 after the opening quarter but trailed 28-25 at halftime. They would outscore the Panthers 37-30 in the second half.

Junior guard/forward Sam Snodgrass connected on all three of Crown Point’s shots from outside the arc, all part of a 13-point night.

Also, for the Bulldogs, junior forward Sam Decker connected for 12 points on five of eight shooting, while junior guard/forward Elias Gerodemos had 11 points.

In a losing effort for the Panthers sophomore forward Jylen Petty went nine of 11 from the free-throw, part of a 17-point performance, while junior guard Tony Stuckey matched Snodgrass’s total with 13 points.

Both senior guard/forward DaQwan Dockery and senior guard Cory McKinney had 10 points each for South Bend Washington.

With the win, Crown Point improves to 7-9, while South Bend Washington drops to 11-6.

DOG NOTES: This win marked the first at home for the Bulldogs since December 19, when they defeated Kankakee Valley 65-41. They are now 2-4 on their home floor.

Crown Point now has won back-to-back games for only the second time this season. They defeated Warsaw on Dec. 16 and then Kankakee Valley three nights later. The win against South Bend Washington comes a night after the Bulldogs won at LaPorte.

USA-365.com NOTES: Internet radio station USA-365.com will broadcast the Portage Indians at the Crown Point Bulldogs game Thursday, Feb. 1. Streaming coverage begins with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. and the tip-off at 7 p.m. CST.
