LOWELL (07-22-2019) With just over a month before the opening kick-off for the 2019 high school football season, recent changes by the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) in the sectional assignments point to some changes in the post-season scheduling line ups.

In Class 6A, Sectional 1, Crown Point could potentially have a playoff game in Lafayette, as the sectional will include the Bulldogs, Lafayette Jefferson, Merrillville and Lake Central.

Sectional 2 will consist of Portage (which had been in Sectional 1 in recent years), Chesterton, Penn and Warsaw.

Valparaiso will be in class 5A the next 2 years. It has something to do with to the merger of 5As Elkhart Central and Elkhart Memorial, which doesn't occur until next season. The new Elkhart high will be in Class 6A for the 2020 season.

Valparaiso joins LaPorte, Michigan City and Munster in Class 5A, Sectional 9 for both 2019 and 2020.

Now, here's a look at the two local football teams we have focused most of our coverage upon these past 18 years at USA-365.com and Indiana-Sports.com.
